Platform component

Siren — Media & Public Affairs Intelligence

Continuously monitors publicly available sources so customers can see what news media, influencers, government and campaigns are saying about their issues — with every insight linked directly to its source.

Sources monitored

News media, paid advertising, government announcements and official communications, parliamentary committee records and Hansard, and public social media. All sources are publicly available — Siren does not access private accounts, restricted feeds or non-public databases.

AI models & analysis

AI models generate sentiment scores and synthesised summaries for each source. Customers receive the derived analysis alongside a direct link to the original. PollStream does not reproduce or store source content — only the derived summary and metadata are retained. Where a source sits behind a paywall, customers are directed to obtain access directly.

Data retention & GDPR

Siren is designed to comply with UK GDPR. Raw source data is held for up to 30 days in line with data minimisation principles. Beyond that, only metadata and derived measures, such as sentiment scores and volume trends, are retained and cached; no copies of third-party content are stored long-term. When customers open a source, they access the live original, not a cached copy.

01 · Pre-fieldwork

Source & panel governance

All respondent sources are vetted against strict quality standards before entering the platform. Multi-source sampling reduces systematic bias and improves representativeness across demographics, behaviours and geographies.

02 · At entry

Identity & device verification

Device fingerprinting, location validation and identity checks screen respondents before they reach a live survey. VPN and proxy detection, duplicate-entry blocking, and behavioural signals reject low-quality participants at the door.

03 · In survey

Attention & consistency checks

Attention traps, speeder detection and straight-liner flags are applied throughout the survey experience. Open-ended responses are reviewed for consistency, relevance and AI-generated content in real time.

04 · Post-fieldwork

Reported metrics, not just claims

Every published dataset ships with quality metrics — sample composition, effective sample size, weighting efficiency and response rate. Issues are escalated and disclosed alongside results, not buried.

Political neutrality

PollStream is committed to political neutrality and is used by all sides of issues, projects and politics. Our founders have worked across all sides of campaigns and politics for almost 20 years. Our team is focused on insight utility. All customers get access to the same platform, with the same methodology, and the same disclosure, no matter their background and goals.

Caretaker periods

PollStream applies a formal caretaker protocol from the dissolution of Parliament (UK) or the official announcement of a federal election (Australia) through to the swearing-in of a new government. During this period, no research is commissioned for or on behalf of government departments, ministerial offices, or statutory bodies. A full caretaker policy statement is available on request.

Acceptable use

What PollStream may not be used for; including deceptive push-polling, misrepresentation of results, and any use intended to manipulate, suppress or deceive public opinion. Read more here

Our commitment

We don’t publish voting-intention polls. We work with decision-makers on every side of an issue, and publishing horse-race numbers would put us in the story we’re meant to measure. Clients can still commission voting-intention research for private use, it just doesn’t come from PollStream.

Standing policy

The PollStream Neutrality Pledge

Neutrality isn’t a promise we keep project by project; it’s engineered into the platform.

01

One platform, identical for everyone.
Every client gets the same access, the same methodology and the same support; regardless of your clients, political affiliation, ideology or objective.

02

Methodology lives in the platform, not in negotiations.
Sampling, weighting and reporting rules are built into the product and applied identically to every poll, every client, every time. No client can commission a different answer, and no employee can tilt one.

03

Results go straight to you.
Findings flow from respondents to your dashboard without editorial intervention. Nobody at PollStream sits between the data and the client; results are never softened, reshaped or suppressed.

04

Your data is yours alone.
Client accounts, data and findings are segregated by design. Nothing passes between competing parties, campaigns or organisations.

05

No manipulation, by anyone.
Our terms prohibit using PollStream to deceive, misrepresent or manipulate public opinion, and we suspend accounts that try.

06

Hold us to it.
Clients, journalists and the public can report any concern to integrity@pollstream.ai.
